Objective

Hi. Tali and Jess here. Thanks for visiting...

Originally, in the first phases of this project we wanted to explore the unspoken rules set up in public, yet intimate spaces. Spaces such as elevators, waiting rooms, lines, and public transit. With the intention of performing some "social experiments," we would set out to examine the strange untalked about, unexplored part of our day.

Eventually, we settled on focusing our attention to the BART system. Our goal: a smile. Everyone is traveling and set on avoiding eye contact. We are challenged by the idea of creating a happy space. What can we do to transform, if only for a day or even an hour, the publics' experience of the BART ride home?

We've decided to create a blog for many reasons. To record our own progress, to include certain things that will not be included in the final show, and to include the people that our piece affects in some way or another. We have set up a gmail address where we welcome your comments and even cell phone photos of your experience either at one of our events or another random experience that may have made you smile on BART. You can send anything to Bartcarmakeover@gmail.com.

Thanks for visiting! Please, check back often! :)

a simple connection. time and space have been paused. you; a neophyte. neither here nor there.
